Volunteering
Volunteering for the Añangu Kichwa Community, the community that organised Napo Wildlife Centre and Amazanga Expeditions, is a rewarding and unforgettable experience.
They are often looking for volunteers to work with Amazanga Expeditions, Napo Wildlife Centre and also in the community.
Unlike many organizations in Ecuador they do not ask their volunteers to pay. Depending on the project you are involved with, how long you are going to volunteer and what skills you bring, they may be able provide accommodation with members of the community or help you find suitable accommodation.
Generally they are looking for volunteers who are willing to commit to at least three months but preferably longer, as they feel this is the minimum amount of time need to make a meaningful contribution to one of their projects.
Volunteers need to have a minimum of intermediate level Spanish.

More Information: For shorter term volunteering experience, and for those who don’t have specific work experience, we highly recommend Santa Lucia, a community in the cloud forest area outside of Quito who in 1999 switched from being farmers, clearing the forest to become a sustainable ecotourism operation, creating an impressive cloud forest reserve, and eco-lodge which provides income for the community. Since 2000 their volunteer programme has played a crucial role in enabling the development of their sustainable ecotourism operation and conservation and community projects.
